Theme Thursday: Hunger Games

Well today is the day I have been waiting for since I finished Mockingjay!

Happy Hunger Games

In honor of the Hunger Games release at 12:01 am tonight, I am preparing a reaping day feast!

My menu:

Starter:  Sun Dried Tomato, Basil and Goat Cheese Tart

In honor of the young Prim, and her goat, who get chosen in the reaping I will be serving a toasted puff pastry with Basil, Goat Cheese (courtesy of Lady, of course) and topped with Basil.  A perfect, one bite starter

Soup:  Kale, White Bean, and Ciabatta Bread Soup

Greasy Sae loves her some soup!  This one comes protein packed with Kale and Cannelini beans.  If only she could spare Katniss like she spared that poor goat…

Entree:  Lamb Stew

What else!  This was Katniss’ favorite dish in the Capitol.  She even told us during her awkward pre-games interview!  This one will be served with a rich shoulder of lamb, and carmelized onions

Dessert:  Nightlock berries

Since we’re on a diet over here at our house, this was supposed to be served with decadent cream sauces, but we’ll stick with a nice raspberry and blueberry dessert.  Maybe some of that puff pastry will be left over and a tart will emerge…we’ll see 🙂

So there you have it.  Our meal plan tonight.  What better way to celebrate a Thursday than with a theme!

What are you planning this evening?  Anyone else going to the midnight show?  If so, will you save me a seat!?  I’ll be cleaning up from dinner!
